Treadmill Maintenance

Care of your Treadmills

Key to performance of any equipment is its maintenance. Do not wait for conditional maintenance, be prudent and have preventive maintenance done at regular intervals to maximize life and ensure peak performance of your machine. Decent machines come with life time motor and frame warranty. Other Parts Tread Belts, Deck, Console, Motor belts etc come with 2-3 years warranty and are liable to be worn out fast if adequate care is not taken.

Treadbelts and Deck Maintenance

Always keep the tread belt dry and clean. Use soft cloth and mild soap solution to wipe the belt. Do not use abrasives. Vacuum under the belt once in a month to prevent accumulation of dirt under the belt. Ensure the Tension and Traction adjustment of the belt is done properly when the Treadmill is assembled. Use treadmill mattress to create a static bar and avoid residual electrostatic discharge (ESD) thru you. Note the average life of Treadbelt and Phenolic Deck is 2-3 years.

Lubricants - Key to long term performance

Exercise care in using the type, qty and time of application of lubricants. Use only manufacturer specified lubricants. Proper application of lubricants reduces the belt and deck friction, extends motor life, significantly lowers power requirement and ensures efficient performance of the machine. Thumb rule - The lubricants should be administered after 40 hrs. For silicone based lubricants feel the space between the belt and the deck for presence of silicone, if it appears too dry without any lubrication its time for lubrication. Another way is the dead walk check. Switch off the power and walk on the treadbelt, if you encounter resistance to movement there is a necessity to lubricate the equipment. For wax lubrication check the wax nozzle and follow the manufacturer instruction for lubricant application. Do not wax the deck unnecessarily.

Professional Maintenance

Inspection of Treadbelt for fraying, opening motor compartment and checking the motor brush and belt for wear, cleaning the motor compartment, Inspecting the line cord, power supply and insulation, console testing and calibrating the electronics and comprehensive performance testing should be done by professional technicians at least once every 6 months.
